Accreditation
All
degree programs of the University are reviewed and validated by the
Universidad Empresarial de
Costa Rica (UNEM). The Universidad
Empresarial de Costa Rica has been accredited by the Consejo Nacional
de Enseñanza Superior Universitaria Privada (CONESUP) of the Ministry
of Education, Costa Rica, since 5 November 1997, and is listed in the
International
Association of Universities International Handbook of
Universities. Graduates of an EAU program can go on to obtain
a dual
degree award from UNEM without further academic requirements, on
payment of a validation fee.>>Watch UNEM promotional video
The
University also holds official accreditation via a Parliamentary
Charter
dated 29 July 2008 from the
International Parliament for Safety and Peace (IPSP). The IPSP
is an
intergovernmental
association of nations founded in 1975 by Archbishop Makarios III,
President of Cyprus, and Archbishop Viktor Busà, and chartered by the
Presidents of the Republics of Cyprus, Mali and Senegal. It is
internationally recognized under the Vienna Conventions of 1961 and
1963.Today the Parliament is bicameral and appoints both Senators and Deputies. The President of European-American University has served as a Deputy to the IPSP since 2003. In 2010 he was appointed Vice Minister Political Undersecretary of the Department for Ethnic, Religious and Racial Problems. Through his status as a member of clergy of the Apostolic Episcopal Church (The Holy Eastern Catholic and Apostolic Orthodox Church) he is also in full communion with the Lord President of the IPSP in his capacity as an Orthodox Archbishop-Primate.
Accreditation by the IPSP certifies that an educational institution is in conformity with the minimum standards established by the Educational Department of the IPSP and the legal requirements of its jurisdiction.

Royal Charter
In August 2010, as a mark of recognition and support for the University's educational programs in Ghana and throughout Africa, the University was awarded a Royal Charter from HRH Nana Dr. Obeng Wiabo V, the Chief of Gomoa Nyanyano, and Oshihene (Chairman of Lands) of Gomoa Akempim Traditional Area, Ghana. Legal Status
European-American University is an international university and non-governmental organization operating chiefly through the medium of the Internet and bringing together a worldwide network of campuses and individuals in administration, faculty and student relationships. The adjunct faculty and administration are located in various countries and degrees may be conferred in different jurisdictions where permitted by law.
European-American University's corporate basis was established by becoming licensed as European-American University, Ltd., which enables the institution to function with full legal authority and to accept students worldwide. European-American University holds certificates of incorporation and good standing from the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The Commonwealth of Dominica is a member of the British Commonwealth, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and UNESCO.
Under common law precedents concerning university title and the conducting of university work, European-American University is legally permitted to conduct all activities proper to an international, private institution of postsecondary education, including the conferral of degrees up to the doctoral level, in any jurisdiction that permits this activity. European-American University maintains its registered office in Roseau Valley, Commonwealth of Dominica, but under the statute governing its incorporation does not offer educational activities within Dominica itself.
>>View Certificate of Incorporation
>>View Certificate of Good Standing
The Parliamentary Charter granted to European-American University by the International Parliament for Safety and Peace constitutes additional legal authority to grant certificates, diplomas and degrees up to the doctoral level, under the powers reserved to the Parliament as a recognized international organization of nations.
European-American University is a private university. It is not a part of the Dominican or any other state education system and does not award state degrees. It accepts no state funding in connection with any of its activities. The activities of Dominica-licensed private universities operating wholly outside that country are subject to statutory exemption and are the responsibility of the Registrar of Companies rather than the Ministry of Education, which is concerned solely with purely domestic institutions.
What does all this mean for your situation?
All issues of accreditation are specific to your current and anticipated future needs and intentions as far as using your degree is concerned. It is common for recognition policies to depend on a school holding accreditation, and while a particular form of accreditation may be acceptable in some circumstances, in others it may not. Except where a given institution publishes rules as to its policy on this area, it is not possible to issue general guidelines, still less guidelines that are applicable in every circumstance and to every country.
It is therefore necessary that, before enrolment, you check carefully with present and potential employers and any other authority whose approval is important to you that the accreditation status of EAU will be appropriate for your needs. The University cannot undertake to make these enquiries for you and makes no representation as to the acceptance of its degrees by third parties except where a formal written agreement between the University and the third party in question is in force.
For residents of the United States of America
If you are resident in the United States of America, you should be aware that European-American University is not accredited or licensed by an agency recognised by the federal government of the United States of America. In the United States of America, many federal, state and private organisations require U.S.-accredited degrees. In these situations it is the responsibility of the individual concerned to establish whether or not a foreign degree will be an acceptable alternative. European-American University makes no representations concerning the acceptance of its degrees in the United States of America.
Professional licensing and the transfer of credit to other schools
A note of caution should be sounded in relation to professional licensing and transfer of credit, and this should be done by all universities.
As European-American University is primarily an institution serving experienced adults, most of our students are already licensed professionals at the time of their enrolment. Our programs are designed for a world-wide audience, and therefore are not written to meet any specific licensing requirements in any particular state or country. It would be impossible for any university to offer courses which meet all licensing requirements for every state, every province, and every nation. Those considering a degree for licensing purposes are directed to carry out local enquiries in their own country concerning such matters by contacting whichever local bodies the applicant deems relevant to his or her purpose. European-American University cannot undertake to do so on the applicant's behalf.
The transfer of credit from one institution to another is always at the discretion of the receiving school, generally depends on comparability of curricula, and may depend on comparability of accreditation. Again, applicants who wish to seek transfer credit must establish through prior enquiry with the school(s) concerned that they will accept transfer credit from European-American University. The University makes no representations as to the transfer of credit from its programs.
