The Apostolic Episcopal Church/Order of Corporate Reunion
The Apostolic Episcopal Church
Founded: 1925, by Archbishop Arthur Wolfort Brooks (Mar John Emmanuel), under approval of the Chaldean Catholic Church.
Character: Strongly ecumenical and crossing boundaries between Orthodox and Anglican traditions. In the 1940s its character was New Age in orientation according to the original definition of that term; there is still strong esoteric influence today. However, the church is conservative and mainstream in its doctrine.
Locations: Founded in New York City, it has since embraced a mission both within and outside the United States, with bishops in Europe and the Americas.
Present status: Active, with the current membership estimated at more than 12,000 souls.

The Order of Corporate Reunion
Founded: 1874, in order to serve as a means for Anglicans to be ensured of valid orders deriving from Rome and the Orthodox churches.
Character: Clandestine for much of its history, it is a specifically ecumenical order working for unity within Christ's church.
Locations: Founded in the UK, it moved with its Universal Primates to Europe, and is currently led from New York, USA. There are clergy in Europe and the Americas. The Primacy passed to the Emeritus Primate of the Apostolic Episcopal Church in 1998 and to the present Primate, Peter Paul Brennan, in 2005. The current Primate of the AEC is Provincial for the USA, preserving the strong links between the two organizations.
Present status: Active.
