The University holds official accreditation via a Parliamentary Charter dated 29 July 2008 from the International Parliament for Safety and Peace, an intergovernmental association of nations founded in 1975 by Makarios III, then President of the Republic of Cyprus, and Archbishop Viktor Busà, with the constitutional support of the Republics of Mali and Senegal. The IPSP is officially recognized by decree of the Republic of Ecuador and its International Vice-Presidents are Teodoro Obiang Nbasogo, President of Equatorial Guinea, and Hugo Chavez, President of Venezuela. The General Secretary until December 2008 was the late Lansana Conté, President of Guinea, and the Grand Chancellor International was the late Omar Bongo Ondimba, President of Gabon. The ISPSP is supported by the King of Cambodia and is recognized by nations around the world.

Legal Status
European-American University is an international university and non-governmental organization operating chiefly through the medium of the Internet and bringing together a worldwide network of campuses and individuals in administration, faculty and student relationships. The adjunct faculty and administration are located in various countries and degrees may be conferred in different jurisdictions where permitted by law.

European-American University's corporate basis was established by becoming licensed as European-American University, Ltd., which enables the institution to function with full legal authority and to accept students worldwide. European-American University holds certificates of incorporation and good standing from the government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. The Commonwealth of Dominica is a member of the British Commonwealth, the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie and UNESCO.

Under common law precedents concerning university title and the conducting of university work, European-American University is legally permitted to conduct all activities proper to an international, private institution of postsecondary education, including the conferral of degrees up to the doctoral level, in any jurisdiction that permits this activity. European-American University maintains its registered office in Roseau Valley, Commonwealth of Dominica, but under the statute governing its incorporation does not offer educational activities within Dominica itself.

The Parliamentary Charter granted to European-American University by the International Parliament for Safety and Peace constitutes additional legal authority to grant certificates, diplomas and degrees up to the doctoral level, under the powers reserved to the Parliament as a recognized international organization of nations.

European-American University is a private university. It is not a part of the Dominican or any other state education system and does not award state degrees. It accepts no state funding in connection with any of its activities. The activities of Dominica-licensed private universities operating wholly outside that country are subject to statutory exemption and are the responsibility of the Registrar of Companies rather than the Ministry of Education, which is concerned solely with purely domestic institutions.

Relationship to other institutions

European-American University has no relationship, affiliation or association to any other institution, whether educational in nature or not, bearing the name "European-American University" "European-American" or any other similar name, with the exception of the service divisions identified in the following paragraph.

Status in the United States of America
European-American University is not a United States university and does not operate in any territory of the United States of America. It is not accredited or licensed by any agency recognised by the federal or state governments of the United States of America. In the United States of America, many federal, state and private organisations require U.S.-accredited degrees. In these situations it is the responsibility of the individual concerned to establish whether or not a foreign degree will be an acceptable alternative. European-American University makes no representations concerning the acceptance of its degrees in the United States of America.

Status in the United Kingdom
European-American University is not a United Kingdom university, and does not hold a Royal Charter or Act of Parliament. Its degrees are not United Kingdom degrees and are conferred under foreign degree-granting authority in the form of its corporate charter from the Commonwealth of Dominica, charter from the International States Parliament for Safety and Peace, and common law precedent. EAU does not use the title "university" in respect of its corporate activities within the United Kingdom since this term is restricted by law.
