European-American
University was founded and is directed by the Society for Humanistic
Potential (SHP), a religious society of the Liberal Catholic Apostolic Church whose philosophy honors
lifelong learning as a key aspect of the holistic development of the
individual. In its day-to-day administration, the University is
administered by an Executive Council acting on behalf of the Board of
Directors which is empowered to take decisions at the highest level. The Executive Council's membership meets regularly through face-to-face contact as well as liaising via electronic communications. The Executive Council approves each recommendation for a degree award and is also involved in processes of institutional and agency interface, program approval and review, and student welfare. The chairperson of the Executive Council is the University President.
The Academic Board is the academic conduit of the University subordinate to Executive Council. It consists of representatives of Executive Council and of the University's faculty and administration. In addition, each affiliated organization, including the University's International Partners, nominates one representative of their organization to the Board. Due to the widespread location of its members, the Academic Board generally meets through electronic communications.
Honorary Patron
The late Dr. Leonard
Henderson (1921-2000) is the University's
Honorary Patron. Dr. Henderson was a pioneer of adult and
non-traditional education in the United Kingdom in the fields of music
and theology, and was a graduate and faculty member of Columbia Pacific
University. Dr. Henderson was counted as a personal friend and
colleague by the President of EAU and we are honored to dedicate the
University to his memory.
