Towards Graduation
The process of earning your degree
Once your program is completed, you will need to forward the following materials to your University Mentor for evaluation and University approval:
2. Student's Final Evaluation, including a report on all learning undertaken within the program, together with an acknowledgement of all learning resources used that are not otherwise referenced in the Portfolio or Major Study.
3. Two copies of the Portfolio of current and prior learning experiences.
4. The Major Project.
It is possible to send this material electronically, by fax or by postal mail. We ask that you retain at least one hard copy of everything submitted for your own records, as materials submitted to the University will not be returned.
College and University Transcripts
If you want to transfer credit earned at other colleges/universities, you must ensure that official transcripts of your studies are on file with your University Mentor. Make sure that credit which the University has previously agreed can be applied to your program is included on your European-American University transcript when you draft it.
We accept transfer credit from other schools, always on a case by case basis, without limit to the transfer that is possible. However, not all schools award credit responsibly. In such cases, while explicitly not endorsing the school or program concerned, we will generally be open-minded as to allowing the candidate an opportunity to prove themselves in our program through a probationary period.
The Student-Drafted Transcript
In common with other progressive institutions, European-American University charges you, the student, with the preparation of your own draft transcript. This will then be reviewed by your University Mentor and approved by the University. Your transcript will include all course titles, the units earned, and the title of your Major Project. However, it will be a narrative transcript, not a traditional one. For an example of a narrative transcript (from Vancouver University Worldwide) see this link.
You will receive one copy of your transcript when you graduate. If you need additional copies of your transcript once your degree has been issued, you can order them from the University at a cost of $30.00.
Graduates from programs based purely on prior learning (such as APEL) and dissertation-based programs receive a formal University attestation instead of a transcript. This document places the award in its academic and institutional context.
The Diploma
When your portfolio of studies has been approved by your University Mentor and by the University as of standing to graduate, the University will prepare your official diploma. The University issues diplomas in the standard European A4 format bearing the University seal. All diplomas are in the English language. Your diploma will contain the agreed degree title. You will receive your diploma and an official letter of announcement of your graduation within 60 days of the University approving your portfolio provided no fees are outstanding.
Graduation Ceremonies
The University will hold graduation ceremonies wherever numbers make these a possibility, and aims that these should be at least once per year, although this cannot be guaranteed. It is most likely that the venue will be in official learning centers of the University, although other venues will be considered. It is perfectly possible to graduate validly in absentia by receiving your diploma through the post; equally, we recognise that a ceremony is an important rite of passage greatly enjoyed by graduands and their guests.
Only graduands who have no outstanding financial obligations to the University will be permitted to attend the ceremony. At the ceremony, graduands will be presented with their diplomas by the President or his/her deputy. Academical dress (see Regulation 9) will be worn, and arrangements for its hire will be circulated before the ceremony.
After Graduation
The University hopes that graduates will join and become active in the European-American University Alumni Association (EAUAA). We are always interested to hear news of our graduates' achievements of whatever kind, so please do keep in touch.
