University Graduate Verification
The University asks all third party recipients of its degrees to verify the award in question prior to acceptance. This is necessary because of the widespread problem of credential fraud and fake diplomas which now affects all institutions. EAU will be happy to confirm whether a person is listed on its register of graduates, the level of their award and other relevant information. Employers and others who do not verify their employees' credentials with the issuing institution risk falling victim to unscrupulous individuals.
The University does not accept requests for graduate verification by telephone.
Requests for verification must be submitted in writing from persons or organisations with a legitimate interest in the release of such information. Requests may be submitted by email or fax as well as via letter.
The University reserves the right to refuse to provide information where the identity of those requesting information has not been established beyond a reasonable doubt. It will provide information only to individuals in the following categories:
Graduates/Students
A graduate or student (both current and previous) of the University may exercise their right of access to personal data held by us by written request and on payment of a fee (see Tuition for the current fee). The graduate/student (both current and previous) may exercise their right to have any inaccuracies in the information held about them corrected, provided they can prove to the satisfaction of the University that the information is inaccurate.
Employers
An employer or prospective employer may request information providing the graduate in question has supplied written authorisation for them to do so. The University will comply with such requests at its discretion, and normally within 48 hours of the request being made.
Credential Checking/Verification Agencies
A credential checking/verification agency or similar organisation acting on behalf of an employer may request information providing the graduate in question has supplied written authorisation for them to do so. The University will comply with such requests at its discretion, and normally within 48 hours of the request being made.
Other Universities and similar institutions
Existing arrangements for verification in respect of universities and similar institutions will remain in force.
The University may delegate requests for verification to an authorised agent. Such agents will be appropriately registered in the case of their operation within a jurisdiction where data protection legislation is applicable.
